Royal Tractor Company, Inc. Fined $2,000

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued an administrative order assessing a $2,000 civil penalty against Royal Tractor Company, Inc., 100 Mission Woods Road, New Century, for violating state air quality regulations.
During a July 11, 2001 inspection, a representative of the Johnson County Environmental Department noted that the cover of a machine parts cleaner was left open during a time when parts were not being handled in the cleaner. State regulations specify that such covers must be kept closed unless it is necessary for employees to handle parts in the cleaner; thereby preventing needless toxic emissions into the air.
The department's order is subject to administrative appeal.
