Nine lucky people from across the state of Kansas just won some unique prizes for their participation in the annual America Recycles Day (ARD) event.
Maggie Thompson, Kansas ARD Program Coordinator, reported that "thousands of Kansans in at least twenty-three communities participated in more than seventy activities and events across the state to celebrate America Recycles Day on November 15th."
This is the fifth year of this national event to encourage people to remember to reduce, reuse, recycle and buy recycled products. This is the first year the Kansas program was coordinated by the new Keep Kansas Beautiful program.
The Grand Prize Family Weekend Package includes a two night stay in the stone family cabin at Camp Wood in the heart of the Flint Hills, Elmdale, Kansas, a four-course dinner for two at the Grand Central Hotel in Cottonwood Falls, two brisket dinners at the Hays House in Council Grove and a breakfast for two at the Emma Chase Café in Cottonwood Falls. Anyone who filled out an ARD pledge card was eligible for national and state prizes.
