Ace Electric Agrees to Pay $23,300 for Hazardous Waste Violations

Ace Electric, LLC, Columbus, has agreed to pay a $23,300 civil penalty for violations of state hazardous waste regulations. The violations were documented in a June 28 inspection of the company's facilities.

Among the violations noted were a failure to mark 15 hazardous waste storage containers with the words "Hazardous Waste"; accumulation start dates were not marked on 19 containers; and ten storage containers were not closed at the time of the inspection. The facility also did not have a hazardous waste contingency plan or a proper training program, and had failed to submit biennial reports to KDHE.

Department inspectors will continue to monitor the Ace Electric facility to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
