Fort Scott Campground Fined $1,000 for Water Quality Violations

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued an administrative order against Fort Scott Campground assessing a $1,000 civil penalty for discharging wastewater in violation of permit limits, and for failure to properly monitor and report to the department the quality of the discharge from the campground's wastewater treatment facility.

The order also requires the campground to provide KDHE with missing discharge monitoring reports for approximately the past nine months. Fort Scott Campground is also required to implement a system at the plant to assure monitoring and reporting activities are carried out as required by its permit.
