Garnett Church Furnishings Enters Consent Agreement with KDHE

Garnett Church Furnishings, 901 S. Oak St., Garnett, has entered into a consent agreement with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment which will obligate the company to perform environmental projects which will likely cost about $238,000. The company entered the agreement in lieu of paying a $39,700 civil penalty for violations of hazardous waste standards as documented in a January 24, 2001 state inspection.

The company has agreed to include a new paint spray booth and dust collection system in a new building which is being constructed in the industrial park. These modifications for the new facility will enable Garnett Church Furnishings to generate less hazardous waste and to remain in compliance with environmental regulations.
