Industrial Chrome, Inc. Fined $10,000

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued an administrative order assessing a $10,000 civil penalty against Industrial Chrome, Inc., 834 N.E. Madison, Topeka, for violating the Kansas Air Quality Act.

On March 23, representatives of KDHE and the Shawnee County Health Agency conducted an air quality inspection at Industrial Chrome. The inspection revealed that the company had not properly maintained records to verify that work practice standards were being met. Industrial Chrome had also failed to maintain a variety of other records and reports which are required to ensure that companies are operating in compliance with environmental regulations.

The department's action is subject to administrative appeal.
