The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an order assessing a $10,000 civil penalty against Alterra Sterling House of Fairdale, 2251 E. Crawford, Salina, for violating state adult care home regulations.
KDHE staff inspected the assisted living facility on August 22-23, 27-30 and September 5-6 and determined that the facility failed to meet standards for administration, negotiated service agreements, health care services, staff qualifications, and facility construction. The department determined the violation resulted in, caused, or posed serious physical harm to a resident. State law authorizes KDHE to issue civil penalties following an inspection under those circumstances.
The order is subject to appeal to the Secretary of Health and Environment.
