Recall Issued on 3 Varieties of Tasty Classics and Baron Soups

Les Produits Freddy Inc., a Canadian food company, is voluntarily recalling three varieties of "Tasty Classics" or "Baron" brand soup sold in 10 3/4 oz. cans. The affected varieties are: Cream of Mushroom Condensed Soup, Cream of Chicken Condensed Soup and Cream of Celery Soup. The recalled soups may be contaminated with botulism.

The Tasty Classics soups were sold in Hy-Vee Food and Drug Stores in Kansas. The Baron soups were sold at various grocery stores nationwide. Consumers should not eat these soups even if they do not appear or smell spoiled, but should instead return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning and can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double vision, and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be symptoms. People experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has not received any reports of illness associated with the recalled products to date. The department is assisting the FDA in notifying the public of the recall.

Consumers with questions may contact the manufacturer, Les Produits Freddy Inc., at 1-888-797-3210.
