New Horizons of Valley Center Fined $10,000
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an order assessing a $10,000 civil penalty against New Horizons of Valley Center, 821 W. 3rd St. Terrace, Valley Center, for violating state nursing home regulations.
KDHE staff inspected the facility on August 7-9, 21-25 and 28-31 and determined that the facility failed to meet standards for physician services and client rights. The department determined the violation resulted in, caused, or posed serious physical harm to a resident. State law authorizes KDHE to issue civil penalties following an inspection under those circumstances.
The order is subject to appeal to the Secretary of Health and Environment.
