KDHE Lifts Boil Water Advisory for D and W Water Customers

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is lifting a boil water advisory for customers of D and W Water Company in Riley County. The water is now considered safe. The advisory affected a subdivision of 33 homes north of Manhattan bordered by Rocky Ford Ave. on the north and Barnes Road on the south, east of Highway 24.

The advisory was issued August 31st because bacteria were detected in samples collected from the distribution and because of concern over low chlorine residuals within the system. Water sample analysis conducted by KDHE show that chlorine residuals have returned to adequate levels and subsequent samples have been negative for bacteria.

KDHE will continue to monitor the system to ensure the public health.
