KDHE Fines Strickler Holstein Farm for Water Quality Violations
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an administrative order assessing a $10,000 civil penalty against Strickler Holstein Farm, Iola, for violating conditions of its Agricultural and Related Wastes Control Permit.
In addition to the fine, the order requires that sludge be removed from waste storage pond(s) and applied to crop fields at agronomic rates. The department has also directed Strickler to submit a manure/waste management plan by October 15.
Strickler has until October 2 to appeal the department's order.
