The Food You Serve -- Risky or Risk-Free?
Free Food Safety Seminars Offered Statewide
Governor Graves has proclaimed September as Kansas Food Safety Education Month. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is teaming up with Kansas food service companies to present free food safety seminars titled "The Food You Serve: Risky or Risk-Free" throughout Kansas. Food service owners, managers and staff are invited to attend.
Serving safe food is more challenging now than ever before. Seminar participants will learn how keying in on six risk factors can ensure customer trust for years to come -- and prevent costly foodborne illness outbreaks. Sessions will focus on the new education-based inspection procedure, from facility plan approval to administrative orders.
The seminars will be led by state food protection investigators and guest presenters. Kansas Food Code booklets, food safety fact sheets and other educational materials will be available free of charge.
The seminars are sponsored by: Albertson's, Dillon's, ITW Dymon, K-State Research & Extension, Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association, Kansas Food Dealer's Association, KatchAll Industries, and KDHE.
