Source Water Assessment Meetings Scheduled
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment will be holding six public meetings to receive oral and written comments on the Kansas Source Water Assessment Program Plan.
The federal Safe Drinking Water Act requires that KDHE prepare a source water assessment for each public water supply that produces drinking water from a well or surface water diversion from a lake or river. These assessments must be completed and submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by June 6, 2003.
The Kansas Source Water Assessment Program Plan describes how the KDHE Bureau of Water proposes to complete Kansas' source water assessment.
