Plaza West Regional Health Center Fined $5,000
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an order assessing a $5,000 civil penalty against Plaza West Regional Health Center, 1570 SW Westport Drive, Topeka, for violations of state nursing home regulations.
KDHE staff inspected the facility on January 25-28 and issued a correction order on February 17 citing the facility for failure to meet standards for quality of care and for resident behavior and facility practices. KDHE staff conducted a follow-up inspection on March 3-4 and 8-11 that determined the deficiencies had not yet been corrected.
The department assesses a fine when a facility fails to correct the deficiencies by the second visit. Department surveyors continue to check the facility to ensure the deficiencies are corrected.
The order is subject to appeal to the Secretary of Health and Environment.
