Southwinds Rehabilitation & Care Center Fined $6,800
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an order assessing a $6,800 civil penalty against Southwinds Rehabilitation & Care Center, 1800 W. 27th St., Lawrence, for violating state nursing home regulations.
KDHE staff inspected the facility on March 2, 3, 4 and 8 and determined that the facility failed to meet standards for quality of care. The department determined the violation resulted in, caused, or posed serious physical harm to a resident. State law authorizes KDHE to issue civil penalties following an inspection under those circumstances.
The order is subject to appeal to the Secretary of Health and Environment.
