Wichita Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Fined $5,000
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an order assessing a $5,000 civil penalty against Wichita Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center,
932 N. Topeka St., Wichita, for violations of state nursing home regulations.
KDHE staff inspected the facility on August 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 and issued a correction order on August 25 citing the facility for failure to meet standards for quality of care. KDHE staff conducted a follow-up inspection on September 11, 14, 15, 16 and 17 that determined the deficiencies had not yet been corrected.
The department assesses a fine when a facility fails to correct the deficiencies by the second visit. Department surveyors continue to check the facility to ensure the deficiencies are corrected.
The order is subject to appeal to the Secretary of Health and Environment.
