Kansas City Barbecue Company Fined

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an administrative order assessing a $1,000 fine against Kansas City Barbecue Company,

710 N. Main, Lansing, for violations of state food service regulations.

The fine was issued based upon the findings of a routine inspection, conducted on behalf of KDHE, which reviewed the facility's procedures and equipment for sanitation and food storage, handling, and preparation.

State law allows the KDHE Division of Health to issue fines for violations of state regulations adopted pursuant to the Kansas Food Service and Lodging Act. The laws are intended to protect the public from food-borne illness.

The order is subject to appeal to the Secretary of Health and Environment.
