State Lifts Health Advisory
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment this afternoon lifted a health advisory on Labette Creek south of Parsons to the confluence with the Neosho River.
Bacteriological testing indicates Labette Creek has returned to historical background levels for contaminants. A visual inspection of the creek showed no remaining impact of the sewage release from the Parsons Wastewater Treatment Plant August 4. There is no evidence of any detrimental impact to aquatic life in the creek.
The department no longer discourages contact or non-contact recreation on the Creek.
