            <description>TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has scheduled a public participation meeting concerning the proposed Tarkio CD Disposal, LLC, construction and demolition landfill planned for a site along East 56th Avenue in the Zeandale community in Riley County, Kan. The public meeting will take place on May 22 at 7 p.m. at the Zeandale Community Center at 901 Tabor Valley Rd . in Manhattan.  </description>

            <title>KDHE Awarded Grant Funds for Environmental Remediation</title>
            <description>TOPEKA, Kan.-- The Kansas Brownfields Program has been selected to receive $600,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup (ARC) Grants program. Brownfield sites are real property where the expansion, redevelopment or reuse of the site may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant or contaminant. The potential liability associated with contamination complicates business development, property transactions, or expansion on these properties.</description>

BRFSS is the world&apos;s largest, annual population-based telephone survey system, tracking health conditions and risk behaviors in the U.S. It is coordinated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is conducted in every state and several territories.</description>

            <title>Kansas Denim Day April 24</title>
            <description>Topeka - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) invites state agencies and other Kansas employers to join the state health department in supporting Denim Day by allowing employees to wear jeans on Wednesday, April 24. Denim Day is a response to a 1999 Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans. Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day has been a symbol of support for victims of sexual violence and protest against the idea that a victim could cause their own rape.</description>

            <description>TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) paid eligible providers and hospitals a total of $46,614,849 during the first 12 months of the Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program. KDHE’s Division of Health Care Finance is responsible for issuing the payments through funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The joint federal-state program is part of Kansas’ ongoing Health Information Technology insertion.</description>
