Kansas Kids' Fitness Day

Kansas Kids' Fitness Challenge

Kansas Kids’ Fitness Challenge

Every year as part of KKFD, we encourage 3rd grade classes to take a fitness challenge before their KKFD event. This incentive program is designed to enhance the educational and health benefits of KKFD by providing a chance to be active prior to the actual event.

Kansas Kid

Third grade classes that reach the determined physical activity goal will be awarded with a class certificate, a class prize, incentive prizes for all students in the class that participate, and recognition at their Kansas Kids Fitness Day event. This year you will have the opportunity to take the President’s Challenge (www.presidentschallenge.org), a 6 week fitness challenge, OR Walk Kansas Kids (www.walkkansas.org/kids/) fitness challenge, a 9 week challenge, in order to qualify. Please note, you only need to participate for 4 of the 6 or 9 weeks of either of the challenges in order to receive class awards and certificates and to be recognized at your KKFD event.

Please go to the following websites for more information. You will need to send me the results of your challenge before April 18, 2008. However, please let me know before mid-February whether you plan on participating.

The Presidents Challenge (www.presidentschallenge.org)
Under “Groups,” click on “Community.” Then click on “Register a Group” heading and then “Register a Group” heading again. At this point, you will be asked to come up with a group name and password as well as your personal information. You will then be sent via e-mail an invitation form to send to all group participants to register as part of your group and to start tracking their activity on-line.
If you do not want to track your activity on-line, simply print out the following form and hand out to your students:
