Immunization Registry (KSWebIZ)

Kansas WebIZ Bee Wise

Parents, Families and Children

Benefits of KSWebIZ:

  • Consolidates and combines immunization information from a multitude of sources into a single record that is stored in one place.
  • Provides an accurate and official copy of a child’s immunization history for daycare, school, camp, college, etc.
  • Due to effective decision support capabilities, KSWebIZ helps providers and parents determine when immunizations are due thereby preventing duplicate or unnecessary vaccinations.
  • Identifies pockets of need – areas of high risk and populations that are under served.
  • Provides information on coverage rates at the state and community level.
  • Keeps providers informed about new vaccines and changes in the recommended vaccination schedules.

Personal information about my child: Is it secure?

  • KSWEBIZ must protect the privacy of all its clients which include children, their families and the providers.
  • Privacy specifications include the following:
    • A written confidentiality policy that is in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
    • A confidentiality agreement that must be signed to confirm compliance with the written policy
    • Confirmation that the registry will only be used for its intended purpose
    • Policies must clearly define who has access to information
    • Policies define what constitutes a breach of confidentiality and penalties will be enforced
    • Policies address the period of time that registry information will be maintained.

Is it necessary that I maintain these records?

  • People in today’s society change health care providers more readily then in previous generations. In addition, provider offices only store records for a few years. Having an accurate record substantiates that children are current in their immunizations. In Kansas children are not allowed to enter school unless they can prove that all school immunization requirements have been met.
  • The pink book is available online through KSWebIZ and your provider. This is the same as the hard copy that your provider originally wrote the vaccinations and dates on. You will not have to worry about losing it because the information will be maintained in one place from which the record can be reproduced.
