Community Planning for HIV Prevention

Kansas AIDS Section logo

In 1994, the HIV/STD Section began the process of participatory community planning using funds provided by the CDC. HIV prevention community planning refers to an ongoing process whereby KDHE and representatives and members of communities/populations at risk for HIV infection set priorities and develop goals designed to promote effective HIV prevention programming. The Kansas HIV Prevention Community Planning Group (CPG) serves as a voice for those communities in Kansas that are at highest risk for contracting HIV. The CPG significantly contributes to all Kansans by advising the HIV/STD Section on how to best implement culturally competent and sensitive HIV prevention services to those who need them most.
