What
is happening in Kansas Local Health Departments ?
Many health departments
are in the process of completing the DOJ survey.
Please let us
know what events or projects you are working on so we may share the information
with other health departments.
KALHD
Activities
KALHD is working
to develop a tool to assess the current capacity of local health departments
to provide public health services to their communities. The assessment
will be used to identify basic certification topics, then training material
related to those topics will be provided to the local health departments.
The following
needs have been identified as essential to strengthening the organizational
capacity of the Kansas public health system
Ability to perform
ongoing community assessments

Consistent
local epidemiological capability

Ability to
prioritize health needs

Comprehensive
public health coverage in rural areas

Promote a
minimum public health presence in each county
