Group Term Life Insurance
Lump sum payment of 150% of eligible employee's annual salary to beneficiary.

Optional Group Life Insurance
Optional group term insurance for employee only. Up to $250,000.

Long Term Disability
After 6 months of disability, employee receives compensation equal to 66 2/3% of state salary. (Subject to reduction from other disability benefits.)

Service-Connected Death Benefit
Eligible dependents receive lump-sum payment of $50,000 & monthly amount of 50% of salary. Benefits subject to reduction of any workers compensation benefits.

Payment of medical & disability compensation for injuries arising from employment.

Provides retirement income and financial assistance in case of total disability.

Retirement Plan
Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) - Defined benefit pension plan
Mandatory participation after one year of service in a KPERS covered position. Employee pays 4% of gross biweekly rate. Rate of state contribution is set by law.
Payment for Unused Sick Leave
Upon retirement, employees received partial payment for unused sick leave in excess of 800 hours after 8 years of service.

Defined contribution retirement plan. Provides deferred tax savings opportunity.
