Numerous government reports and the medical literature have documented the increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children in the United States over the past two decades.  In 2003, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, with funding from the Sunflower Foundation:  Health Care for Kansans, a Topeka-based philanthropic organization with the mission to serve as a catalyst for improving the health of Kansans, launched K-CHAMP to assess this important public health issue in the state of Kansas.  To learn more about this project, including an overview of the data collected, please access any of the links provided on the left menu.
