This web page was created to display available information in the permit process for the Sunflower Electric Power Corporation, Holcomb Power Plant expansion project. The proposed expansion is to add an 895 megawatt electric generating unit to the existing facility. Information below includes, the permit application, public hearing date, time, and locations, public comments, draft permit, and a timeline for the entire process.

July 30, 2010 Update: An error in the modeling data was discovered in the Sunflower construction permit. As a result, the modeling data will need to be revised. It is anticipated that it will take about 30 days for Sunflower to revise and resubmit data to KDHE for review. Subsequent to that, KDHE will hold an additional public comment period and public hearing. This period will be for all aspects of the permit, not just the modeling data. Details will be announced at a later date.

The initial public hearings will continue as scheduled during the week of August 2. The initial public comment period will also continue through August 15, 2010.
